Clinical application | As a hemostatic, pus drainer, emollient and demulcent, it is applied for hematemesis, hemoptysis and nasal hemorrhage. Remarks | Bletilla ochracea Schltr. is used as Baiji in the west and north areas of Sichuan Province. Baiji has been regularly used for curing pulmonary hemorrhage since ancient times. At present, it is used regularly for curing hemoptysis by the doctors of Chinese Traditional Medicine or a folk medicine. In Japan, it was used for mucus production and lenitive as a substitute for an European crude drug, Salep Tuber, however, it is seldom used nowadays. Salep Tuber is the corm of Orchis morio L. of family Orchidaceae (genus Orchis), Anacamptis pyramidalis Richard and Platanthera bifolia Richard. | |||||
