RemarksThe Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China defines Polygonatum odoratum as the original plant of Yuzhu. However, P. macropodium circulates in the Chinese market. In Hong Kong, P. sibiricum, the original plant of Huangjing (Polygonati Rhizoma), has been identified in the market. Though the benefit of Huangjing is similar to that of Yuzhu, the former has the advantage of invigorating qi and the latter has the advantage of invigorating yin. Clinically, they are used differently.
