RemarksCiwujia (刺五加), Ezoukogi in Japan, is native to Asia and the Far East including Northeast China and Russia. It is often colloquially referred to as Siberian ginseng in Europe and the United States while Ciwujia in China. The rhizome, root, or stem is frequently used as a tonic and aphrodisiac.
Recently it is in high demand as health foods. The underground part of Wujiapi (五加皮) and Ciwujia are used for medicinal purposes, but the stem bark and trunk bark are also used.
