| Remarks | Poaia, or Riotokon, is a folk medicine of Brazil. It is used singly as powder medicine. Cartagenatokon is the root of congener Cephaelis acuminata Karsten and the alias name is Cartagena ipecac. It grows naturally in the forest of the Republic of Colombia. It resembles poaia in shape but is rather larger. The content of alkaloid is generally more than poaia. It contains more cephaeline than emetine. | |||
