RemarksThe leaves of Akamegashiwa are applied externally for for boils and swellings. The hairs and glandular hairs on the surface of the fruits of Mallotus philippinensis Muell.-Arg., which belongs to the same genus as Akamegashiwa, are called Kamala and are used as a taeniacide.
