Common usesAchenes are bitter, acrid, thermogenic, astringent, antiinflammatory, anodyne, expectorant, depurative, demulcent, purgative, diuretic, stomachic, febrifuge, galactagouge and tonic. They are useful in inflammations, hiccough, cough, asthma, leprosy, skin diseases, pruritus, leucoderma, dyspepsia, colic, strangury, fever and are very specific for round worm and thread worm.
