Common usesSeeds are diuretic, stomachic, stimulant, antiseptic, cooling, carminative and aphrodisiac. In the form of decoction, infusion or tincture it is used in the treatment of nervous debility, nervous disorders, hysteria, bronchial asthma, cold, flu and worms. Seeds pulverized and made into a paste with milk are used to treat prickly heat and itch. They are inhaled for the dryness of the throat. Volatile oil from seeds is used as tonic, stimulant and carminative.
