Common uses | Dried inflorescence (fruit) is aphrodisiac, stimulant, diaphoretic, galactagogue, anthelmintic and is used to stop diarrhoea/diarrhea. Fruit decoction is used as an expectorant in asthma. Dried sliced fruit is useful as an aromatic adjunct to other medicines. | ||||

Pharmacological effect | Fruit and shoot exhibit hypoglycaemic activity and the fruit has anti-protozoal activity. The aqueous extract or decoction of the fruits showed significant analgesic and anti-diarrhoeal activites in albino rats. The decoction did not exhibit any toxicity upto 10ml/kg. | ||||
