Pharmacological effectAn alcoholic extract of leaves shows anti-bacterial activity against Micrococcus pyogenes var. aureus and Escherichia coli. The plant contains an alkaloid and a glucoside; the latter on hydrolysis gives an optically active substance which stops the isolated frog's heart in diastole.
