Description'Aqaqiy' is an extract (water) of flowers, leaves, bark and stem of the plant and after concentration it is dried in the form of tablets. 'Aqaqiya' is soluble in water. It is most fragrant, blackish green, unshrivelled and hard.
Function and propertiesCosmetics, Organs of the head, Ocular organs, Swellings, Joints, Excretion.
Constipative, blood purifier, desiccant and repellant.
Specific actionsPowerful astringent and styptic.

Common usesCosmetics: It blackens the hair, clears complexion and is useful for fissures caused by cold.

Organs of the head: It is useful for the ulcers of mouth.

Ocular organs: It promotes and strengthens the vision.
No 'aqaqiya' except the Egyptian variety is good for eyes. It gives relief in conjunctivitis and erysipelas. It is also included in medicine meant for petrygium.

Swellings: It is useful for fire burns, pimples and hot swellings when applied with the white (albumen) of the egg.

Joints: It prevents flabbiness of the joints.

Excretion: 'Aqaqiya' is astringent and prevents haemorrhage/hemorrhage. It is also prescribed in spermatorrhoea/spermatorrhea, leucorrhoea/leucorrhea and nocturnal emission.
Side effectIt causes constipation when used orally. Regular use may cause astringency and obstructions.
