Distribution areaIn Java it grows from the lowland up to 1500 m altitude in sunny dry localities, Imperata fields, brushwood, bamboo forests, sometimes grows gregariously [201].
DescriptionThe plant is an herb, 20-80 cm tall, woody at the base; flowers are white [207]. The roots and leaves are aromatic.

Medical systemIndonesian medicine (Jamu)
Traditional usagePoultice made from roots or leaves are used as a liniment for tiredness; the decoction is used for fever and venereal diseases. Infusion of leaves and coconut sugar is used to treat sore throat.
Infusion of the leaves is used for cough, mouth ulcer and asthma; infusion of all plant parts is used to treat asthma and chronic bronchitis [201].
Formulation1) Asthma and chronic bronchitis:
 15-20 grams of fresh all plant parts are cut in pieces and steeped with 500 ml of hot water. Strain and drink the tea in one day time [201].

2) Fever (in children):
 10 grams of fresh roots are pounded, add 1 teaspoon of kerosene to make a fine paste. Apply the paste on the abdomen, chest, neck areas [207].
