| Distribution area | In Java (Indonesia), it occurs as a weed of many crops in tea and cinchona plantation, in home garden from 50m up to 2,400m altitude [222]. | |||||
| Description | Leaves are weakly prickly and have shallow lobes, contain a bitter tasting and milky sap. Sonchus arvensis is a deep-rooted perennial herb, up to 2 m tall. Stem up to 1.5 m tall,erect, herbaceous, glabrous, glaucousm hollow with milky sap, branching above in inflorescence, single from stout taproot or stolons. It has several bright yellow dandelion-like flowers, 3-5 cm wide. Fruit an achene, flattened, frequently slightly curved. Achenes are dispersed by wind, water and by clinging to animals. | |||||
