RemarksArctium lappa is native to Europe and came down to China in ancient times. The fruits are mainly produced in three provinces of Northeastern China and are called Guanlizi. The products of Zhejiang Prov., called Zhuangdali, are of high quality.
They are blended into a formulation called Yinqiaosan, which contains the following crude drugs according to Wen Re Jing Wei.: Lonicerae Flos, Forsythiae Fructus, Platycodi Radix, Arctii Fructus, Menthae Herba, Lophatheri Herba, Schizonepetae Herba, Sojae Semen Preparatum and Glycyrrhizae Radix. The formulation is heavily used to treat a cold in China.
