RemarksThe Japanese Pharmacopoeia 16th edition specified the fruits of Forsythia suspensa or F. viridissima as Forsythia Fruit (連翹). The Pharmacopoeia of the People’s Republic of China specifies only F. suspensa.

Korean Forsythia Fruit (Chōsen-rengyō) is derived from the fruits of Forsythia koreana Nakai and is regarded as a substitute for the genuine drug, but its quality is inferior.

Shō-rengyō (小連翹) is derived from Hypericum erectum Thunb. and other related species of the genus Hypericum (family Hypericaceae).
