RemarksOn the market, the commodity standards are fixed by the production area.
(1) Nangupi (Dugupi): produced in Suzhou Jiangsu Prov. or Shanghai area, is of high quality.
(2) Jiangbeigupi: produced in the Northern aria of Jiangsu Province, is second-grade.
(3) Guchenggupi: produced in Chuxian Tongling Province, is slightly lower quality.
(4) Jingupi: produced in Shanxi, Hebei and Henan Province. Low quality.
Lycii fructus, the fruit of Lycium chinense or L. barbarum, is the drug for tonifying the kidney. In contrast, Digupi, the bark of the above, is the drug for reducing fever. Their medicinal benefits are different.
