RemarksDioscorides mentioned gentiana in "De Materia Medica" that the Gentiana roots were warm in nature and astringent. In Europe, the fresh roots are mashed, soaked in water and the juice is extracted from it. It has been applied for pain, laceration, spasm, diseases of liver and stomach, inflammation of eye, etc. 0.1g of the powdered Gentiana should be taken 3 to 5 times a day orally.
