RemarksRōtokon has been listed in the Japanese Pharmacopoeia as the substitute for Belladonnae Radix since its 2nd edition. As Japanese Rōtokon is in short supply, the rhizome of Scopolia carniolica L. (Jap. name: Yōshuhashiridokoro) produced in Europe, or S. parviflora Nakai (Jap. name: Chōsenhashiridokoro) produced in Korea, is occasionally used.
