Common uses | It is prescribed in helminthiasis, leucoderma, jaundice, prurigo, boils, glandular tumours/tumors, pustular eruptions, ulceration of cowpox and leucoderma. Hot infusion of leaves used as anodyne for fomenting swollen glands, bruises and sprains. Leaf powder has antifertility activity. Leaves are also used as anthelmintic in humans and cattle. | ||||
Pharmacological effect | Tender leaves have antiviral properties. Leaf extract yields fractions which delay the clotting of blood. Essential oil from shade dried leaves (yield 0.13%) possess antibacterial activity. | ||||
