Remarks | The name Nishot is applied to a well known Ayurvedic drug consisting of roots of Operculina turpethum (L.) Manso (Convolvulaceae). The sample sold in the market as Safed (meaning white) Nishot as a substitute for genuine Nishot (roots-brown or darkred/black in colour). However, roots of safed nishot constitute another Ayurvedic drug called Murva. Though two other plants are also used as Murva, Marsdenia tenacissima also has similar properties and uses and can be used as the drug Murva. | ||||
